Hard water, sprinklers, and a rinse left in the Phoenix sun leave mineral spots on paint and glass. Soap does not dissolve them. This page is how those spots come off, and the work can be added to any service when the car needs it.
Phoenix water is hard. Sprinklers, a rinse left to dry in the sun, and automatic washes leave mineral rings that soap will not lift. On glass they haze the view. On paint they dull the clear coat. Leave them long enough and they etch in, which means you can feel them with a fingernail.
We treat paint and glass as two different surfaces. Glass gets a water-spot remover, then a polish if the minerals have bonded to the glass. Paint gets the remover first. If the spots are only sitting on the surface, that is enough. If they have etched the clear coat, we machine polish until the etch is leveled out. We stop and tell you if a spot has gone through the clear.
Water spot removal does not have to be its own appointment. A wash, an exterior detail, a full package, paint correction, or a ceramic coating can include it on the same visit when the paint or the glass has spots.
Surface minerals · Bonded deposits · Etched clear coat
A water spot is what is left when the water is gone. Phoenix water carries minerals. Sprinklers, a hose rinse, and an automatic wash leave that water on the car. The sun bakes it. The minerals stay as a ring. The longer that ring sits, the harder it is to get off.
You can tell the stage by looking and by feel. That stage decides whether a remover is enough or whether the surface has to be polished.
You can see the ring. A fingernail slides over it. The minerals are sitting on the paint or the glass. A water-spot remover dissolves them. Nothing gets polished.
The minerals have grabbed the glass or the clear coat. Remover comes first. Whatever will not release is polished: the glass where it is hazed, and a light machine polish on the paint.
You can feel the spot. The clear coat itself is damaged, so a remover cannot fill it back in. Machine polish levels the etch. If the etch is through the clear, we stop. A pad cannot put clear coat back.
The same mineral ring is a different job on each surface. Glass can be polished when the minerals have bonded. Paint is only machine polished where the clear coat is etched.
A mineral remover goes on the glass first. Spots that wipe away are done. Spots that have bonded or etched get a glass polish until the haze is gone, then a streak-free clean.
The panel is washed before anything else, so grit is not polished into the clear. Remover lifts minerals that are still on the surface. Etched panels are machine polished only where you can feel the damage.
This can be added to any service. Book it with a wash, an exterior detail, a full package, paint correction, or a ceramic coating, and we do the spots on that same visit.
Paint and glass are cleaned, then treated for how deep the minerals have gone. We do not polish a panel that only needs a remover.
We look at the spots in the light and feel the paint. Surface minerals, bonded deposits, and etched clear coat are not the same repair. This is when we tell you which stage the spots are in, on the paint and on the glass.
Loose dirt has to come off first. Working a remover or a polish over grit would put scratches in the paint and the glass. The wash is part of the removal, not a separate wash package.
Water spots on glass get a mineral remover. If they wipe away, we stop there and clean the glass. If the minerals have bonded or etched, we polish the glass until the haze is gone, then clean it streak-free.
Paint gets a water-spot remover to lift minerals that are still on the surface. Etched spots stay, because the clear coat itself is damaged. Those panels are machine polished to level the etch. Light etch is a light polish. Heavy etch is a deeper polish. We do not chase a spot that has already gone through the clear.
We wipe the panels and the glass and check them in the light before we leave. Fresh hard water will spot the paint again if it dries in the sun. Spot removal can be added to the wash, detail, paint correction, or ceramic coating already booked for that visit, so the finish is protected before the next rinse.
What this is not: Water spot removal is not a substitute for a full paint correction when the whole car is swirled and dull. It is for mineral spots on the paint and the glass. If the clear coat is etched across the panel, we will say whether this service is enough or whether paint correction is the right job.

Paint, glass, and adding spot removal to the service you already booked
No. Soap lifts dirt. Mineral spots from hard water have to be dissolved, and etched spots have to be polished out of the clear coat or the glass. A wash leaves both of those behind.
Yes. Water spot removal can be added to any service. A wash, an exterior detail, a full package, paint correction, or a ceramic coating can include it on the same visit when the paint or the glass has spots.
Yes. Glass gets a mineral remover, then a polish if the spots have bonded. Paint gets the remover, then a machine polish only where the clear coat is etched.
Spots in the clear coat can be polished out as long as clear coat is left. If the etch is through the clear and into the paint, polishing will not fix it. We will tell you that before we keep going. The same idea applies to glass that is deeply pitted.
Yes. Moody Detailing is mobile across Phoenix and nearby cities. We bring the wash, the remover, and the polisher to your driveway.
We come to you in Phoenix. Tell us the spots are on the paint, the glass, or both, and which service the car is already getting. Water spot removal can be added to that visit.
